Trump could saw off a child’s head on Fox News and still retain the unwavering support of his followers. They’d likely blame Democrats, even if such a horrific act took place. This unwavering loyalty is baffling, even more so considering his policies, which offered little to no benefit to the average voter. Claims of economic improvement ring hollow given the potential for catastrophic economic collapse under his leadership. It was apparent, even from afar, that his actions were not in the best interests of American citizens. Stories now emerge of non-white Trump supporters expressing shock at the increase in racism they and their families experience. His promises were inherently self-destructive for anyone not already immensely wealthy: import fees, mass deportations, and drastically increased healthcare costs were just a few examples. He exhibits a profound hatred for immigrants, the poor, and people of color, viewing all relationships as purely transactional. This is not an exaggeration; he’s a psychopath.
Authoritarians strive to control five key areas to dismantle a democracy: health, law, administration, defense, and intelligence. The erosion of the rule of law grants them absolute power, resulting in the deaths of their enemies and scapegoated groups. Weakening national defense through incompetent appointments, abandoning alliances like NATO, and cozying up to adversaries are all part of this destructive strategy. While some supporters may have voted for widespread destruction, they should understand that they too would suffer in the ensuing chaos. This chaos benefits the oligarchy, dividing the populace and preventing any unified resistance. This destabilization strategy relies on multiple tactics. Firstly, division is used as a distraction. Culture wars, fear-mongering about marginalized groups, and relentless propaganda keep the population at odds, preventing them from uniting against the real culprits: the oligarchs exploiting the system. Secondly, public institutions are destroyed. Attacks on science, healthcare, and essential services create distrust and dysfunction, forcing people to rely on private alternatives controlled by the same billionaires who helped dismantle the public systems. Thirdly, economic instability is exploited. Deregulation, tax cuts for the wealthy, and the deliberate crumbling of essential systems creates an environment where only the rich thrive. This leaves the rest struggling, hindering their ability to organize and demand better conditions.
The fourth tactic involves silencing dissent. Controlling the government is only half the battle; controlling the narrative is equally important. Attacks on the media, efforts to suppress voting, and the criminalization of protest are all aimed at consolidating power and ensuring the oligarchs remain unaccountable. Fifth, divide and conquer: the oligarchy doesn’t need universal support, only enough apathy and division to maintain control. Trump, as their figurehead, stokes rage and fear, distracting the public while they tighten their grip on wealth and resources. In essence, the oligarchs crave this chaos because it protects their power. A desperate and divided population is easily exploited, and Trump is their perfect instrument – obsessed with power, wealth, and loyalty, willing to destroy everything to retain his position at the top. Appointing incompetent and corrupt individuals serves to consolidate this power, a historical pattern among authoritarians.
The expected outcome of a second Trump term was devastating. The collateral damage would be immense and merciless, reflecting a disregard for those deemed unproductive and unable to contribute to the wealth of the oligarchs. Conservative voters need to awaken to the reality that they are being manipulated. Republicans keep them engaged in culture wars and identity politics, distracting them from the real battle: the class war. The idea that those benefiting from this chaos – Elon Musk and Trump, for example – actually care about the average person is ludicrous. Trump attempted to weaponize COVID-19 against Democratic-leaning cities.
His actions during the pandemic reveal a chilling indifference to human life. The immense death toll brought him a unique kind of high, surpassing any previous achievement. The loss of the election, and the subsequent decline in COVID-19 cases, ended this high, fueling his desire to regain that power. He’s existentially dangerous, legally aiming to destabilize the country from day one. He’s virtually unchecked, even by the Supreme Court, and his cabinet appointments are actively harming the country. His potential actions include changing term limits, mirroring Putin’s power grab. His legacy would be that of a tyrant, akin to figures like Leopold II, Putin, Stalin, and Hitler.
His actions are fueled by the support he received from rural white America. Their support stems from the constant rage instilled by local politicians focused solely on maintaining this anger, rather than addressing their needs. Rebuilding trust and communication with this base is crucial for any hope of a stable future. It requires long-term dedication and a focus on their real needs, not just a quick fix. We must help them care about clean water, good schools, science, and kindness. The current political climate is a self-fulfilling prophecy, designed to push people to the point of desperate action. Trump represents the antithesis of the American dream, privileged, exploitative, and ultimately, hateful towards the country and its people.
The question of emigration arises; however, the ultimate indifference of Trump is more concerning. He doesn’t actively wish for death, but he would certainly allow it if it benefited him politically. His actions during the pandemic are proof; prioritizing personal gain over human life. The constant hysteria and fear-mongering are, in themselves, alarming, yet they’re a reflection of the very real danger posed by Trump and his policies. The potential for economic collapse, widespread suffering, and the intentional destruction of vital institutions are very real and imminent threats. This isn’t mere hyperbole; it’s a desperate plea for awareness and action before it’s too late.
