In the video, Walz made a lighthearted joke about not being able to handle much spiciness in his food, specifically tacos. And well, Trump supporters lost their minds over it.
The right-wingers online are claiming that Walz’s comments about not being able to handle spicy food are somehow racist against white people. It’s such a bizarre and nonsensical argument that it’s hard to take seriously. I mean, really? Making a joke about not liking spicy food is now considered racist? Give me a break.
Even prominent figures like Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh jumped on the bandwagon, tweeting about how this was somehow a terrible racist moment for the Harris campaign. Shapiro went as far as to bring up European history and the spice trade to try and make his point. But let’s be real, these claims are laughable at best.
Some even went so far as to dig up old recipes of Walz’s to try and prove that he actually does use spices, like mild green chiles and chili powder in his turkey taco hotdish. But come on, let’s not pretend like those are super spicy ingredients. It’s clear that the outrage over this whole taco fiasco is nothing more than a desperate attempt to find something, anything, to attack Walz with.
But let’s take a step back and think about this logically. Making a harmless joke about not liking spicy food does not equate to racism against white people. It’s a simple, innocent comment that shouldn’t be blown out of proportion.
