On one hand, I understand the importance of creating a safe environment for children, especially those who may be struggling with their identity and fear the repercussions of sharing that with their parents. I never would have imagined that a local police officer would encounter a shooter before they fired towards the former President of the United States. The sheer magnitude of this incident is staggering. It is disheartening to think that there were missed opportunities to prevent the attack during the shooting.
