Putin and his government have made it clear through their military actions, propaganda campaigns, and brutal treatment of Ukrainian civilians that they are intent on erasing Ukraine as a nation and Ukrainian people as a distinct culture.
It is shocking to me that there are still 40% of Ukrainians who do not see the reality of what is happening. The evidence is clear – from the kidnapping of Ukrainian children and relocating them to reeducation camps in Russia, to the mass graves and torture chambers uncovered in Russian-held territories. The targeting of civilian buildings, schools, and hospitals, as well as the use of rape as a weapon against both soldiers and civilians, all point to a deliberate and systematic campaign of genocide and destruction.
Russia’s attempts to eliminate Ukrainian language and culture, while brainwashing Ukrainian children, are textbook examples of cultural genocide. The international community needs to wake up to the atrocities being committed by Russia and stand in solidarity with Ukraine against this aggression.
