It might be even better than CPACs “We are all domestic terrorists” “Swamp Creature” is an excellent insult considering “Drain the Swamp” was Trump’s slogan, and how he not only failed to do that but added more shit to it. Why would someone who is leading in all the polls go slumming it to the wing nut convention looking for votes? Unless their polling shows the wing nuts will break for RFK jr. I mean he was basically groveling last night. I watched some of that speech. He was squinting so hard to read the word salad on the teleprompter it was hilarious with a laugh track of boos added in. This guy is desperate, and that speech shows how much. Best moments, plus added context (Trump tried to flood the convention with bought MAGAts): Trump: The Libertarian party should nominate Trump [Loud booing ensues] Trump: But only if you wanna win! [Booing intensifies] Wow, at least libertarians don’t take kindly to some con man trying to take over their party like Republicans did. And puts on display that he thinks everyone is like him. Doesn’t matter what our platform is, we just want to win! Edit: he then insults them for being “happy with 3% every four years”, which is rich coming from the guy who was just desperately begging that tiny number for their votes. He’s gotten so used to adoring crowds mindlessly cheering for any insane gibberish that comes out of his mouth, it’s amazing to watch him drown in front of regular crowd that’s unfriendly because regular people recognize Trump is an unbelievable asshole. Turns out without his “riffs”, his stump is only like 20-25 minutes long, and it’s terrible. Also, his issues with speaking words correctly are clearly getting worse. It is always astounding when people blame the government for society’s ills. The actual Swamp is the greed of the wealthy and corporations, who use their money to wield outsized influence over our government and our society. But it is always helpful to think of Libertarians as housecats – they think of themselves as fierce, rugged individualists while they’re being cared for and supported in ways they don’t understand. Dude has set abortion rights and women rights back 50 years and wants to align with libertarians? What does he think a libertarian is? So, Trump was owned by the Libs? There’s a laundry list of how he and his gov’t operated in the 4 years with big players like William Barr, Peter Navarro, Betsy DeVos, Louis DeJoy, Michael Flynn, Scott Atlas, Kelly Conway, Kaylee McEneny and so on. And it became so obvious during the pandemic in 2020, hijacking supply planes/ships carrying PPE and selling them to the highest bidder (and FEMA was involved in the bids to push the prices up!), and giving PPE funds to millionaires and so called business owners that didn’t need it. Holy hell, if Trump gets back in you know things will be worse than the 4 years because he’s going to retaliate. Glad to see the libertarians booing him, I think most of us knew that RFK would hurt Trump more than Biden anyways. I think it is being underreported how weird and different Trump 2024 has been from his previous campaigns. A lot of talk about polling and Biden sentiment and how Trump is doing well but you look at the actual moves Trump is making and they do not seem like moves a candidate doing well would be making. There is a desperation built into Trump 2024 that wasn’t present before. Man that sign in one of the images: “let’s deny Trump and Biden a victory” really shows how out of touch people are about the reality of our horrible two party system. You can’t deny them both a victory. All you can do is prevent the nazis from taking over by voting for Biden. It sucks- but there’s no way anyone can change the system before the election. He sold our secrets via the Saudis. He sold favors to TikTok (same TikTok he wanted banned during his admin). He asked for $1bn for favors to the oil industry. He posed for Goya, with Goya products, in the White House. He is for sale – period. The libertarian motto at this event is “Become ungovernable” and the Republican motto at their cpac event was “we are all domestic terrorists” Why does anyone vote for these clown shows He’s been too protected from a full range of reactions to his words. This should probably happen more often. Normally I’d say a headline talking about Trump begging is clickbait, but I watched the clip and I think this is as close as Trump comes to begging. It was pretty pathetic. It seems clear they don’t like him. So, how did he get a spot at the convention ? Kinda reminds me of when Trump courted the LGBT vote back in 2016. It’s the president of the United States, if we do well for each other we all win, that’s the point, the whole country, all constituents. Trump is a kid that never not got picked last in games and thinks the only way to win anything is to personally gain and hurt everyone else. He’s a sociopath. This whole thing seems like a troll of some sort. He must have really been feeling the weight of that diaper in that moment At last, something good coming from the libertarians. Just checked out r/conservative and they are playing it off that he’s a genius for his 3% quip, saying at least he “had the balls” to show up, and saying Bidens a pussy for not going, and overall circle jerking that it was a win for him I oddly just watched both Swamp Thing films. The creature in that is actually more attractive than Trump. Libertarians have lost all credibility. Just having trump there with his authoritarian bent have demonstrated that they have abandoned their true libertarian values and pay lip service to real freedom. Hell, at this point Democrats align better with libertarian values than the christofacist repugs. Sad end to the movement. I used to consider Libertarianism as a potential future for government, but Ron Paul basically made that impossible. Ron Paul, his son, and the whole Mises Caucus made the LP just Republican grift. The Pauls indoctrinated a number of young, dumb fucksticks into thinking they were Libertarians, and convinced that themselves were the REAL LIBERTARUNS removed any kind of remaining sense that the LP made (sparse from the jump) and now, the GOP has a built in spoiler effect. So fucking dumb. How can you possibly be Pro-Life as a Libertarian?! Can anyone else describe the feeling of welcome that he received? Honest question, does trump get any good press outside the maga echo chamber? Wall Street, big oil, big defense? If anyone is actually interested in an opinion that isn’t biased one way or the other.. what I saw from watching the speech was: A lot of boos for sure, especially during certain talking points the libertarians are passionate about or that they think Trump dropped the ball with. There was also a lot of “cheering” during other aspects of the speech. Based on what I can see from libertarian circles, they thought the crowd was rude, “dumb”, juvenile, etc.. Libertarians are definitely not people who are MAGA trumpers, but from what I can tell, regardless of how that particular crowd responded to Trump, he will get a lot of their votes at this point. And conservative sub are happy and praising him as a hero and someone who “ got balls”( despite the fact that some intern just fuck it up a bit with venue) never thought I’d agree with a libertarian, but calling this lunatic out made my holiday weekend Sort of good news I guess, let them waste their votes on RFK Jr. Libertarians are just Republicans that want to smoke pot and be a bit more open about their disdain for age of consent laws. Would be funny if he was somehow on some ballots twice and he thought that was some big advantage.
