The idea that my own state’s politicians are advocating for such extreme and inhumane measures against women simply for making personal healthcare decisions is beyond disturbing. It is a blatant violation of women’s rights and autonomy.
The fact that these Republican officials are not only pushing for the death penalty for women who have abortions but also for those who undergo IVF procedures is a chilling display of their misogynistic and oppressive views. The idea that women should be punished for exercising control over their own bodies is abhorrent and goes against all principles of human rights and dignity.
It is even more unsettling to see these politicians justifying their stance by suggesting that women who are victims of rape should carry their rapist’s fetus to term, insinuating that they would be happier doing so. This kind of victim-blaming and disregard for women’s trauma is deeply disturbing and highlights the lack of empathy and understanding from these officials.
The hypocrisy of the so-called “pro-life” stance of these Texas Republicans is glaringly obvious. How can they claim to be protecting life while advocating for the execution of women who have abortions? It is clear that their agenda is not about saving lives but about exerting control and power over women’s bodies and choices.
As a woman in Texas, I refuse to stand by silently while my rights and autonomy are threatened by such extreme and dangerous ideologies. It is time for Texas women to come together and fight back against this assault on our rights and freedoms. We must stand united against these oppressive measures and demand respect for our bodily autonomy and reproductive rights.
