To think that a group of athletes, who have dedicated countless hours to their sport, would be subjected to such hateful behavior is truly appalling.
The fact that individuals in trucks drove up to the team and yelled racial slurs is a stark reminder that racism is still very much alive in our society. What’s even more concerning is the lack of repercussions or consequences for these actions. It’s disheartening to see that in some places, hate and bigotry are not only tolerated but seemingly encouraged.
The decision to move the team to a different hotel speaks volumes about the severity of the situation. No group of individuals should have to endure such treatment, especially when they are representing their school and state in a national tournament.
