Trump Says Jan. 6 Was an Insurrection
As I sit here, trying to comprehend the absurdity of the statement made by former President Donald Trump, I can’t help but shake my head in disbelief. How is it possible that anyone can still support this man? What has happened in their lives that led them to believe that he is the right choice? These questions swirl in my mind as I dive deeper into the recent news. Trump’s lawyers, in a filing this week, had asserted that the events of January 6th did not constitute an insurrection. However, just days later, Trump himself stated, “I think it was an insurrection.”
Of course, true to form, he immediately shifted blame onto Nancy Pelosi. “I think it was an insurrection caused by Nancy Pelosi,” he claimed. The lengths he will go to deflect responsibility and cast blame on others is truly mind-boggling. It’s a classic case of “That didn’t happen. And if it did, it wasn’t that bad. And if it was, that’s not a big deal. And if it is, that’s not my fault. And if it was, I didn’t mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.” It’s like a never-ending loop of denial, falsehoods, and shifting narratives.
What perplexes me even more is how the Supreme Court could side with someone so clearly unfit for office. It is truly disgusting. Jan 6th wasn’t just “the insurrection” as Trump’s lawyers try to portray it. It was part of a larger scheme to undermine our democracy, starting with the fake elector scheme. And yet, Trump’s words continue to be unhelpful, ill-conceived, incorrect, and self-centered. Who in their right mind listens to this man?
I can’t help but be reminded of all the “PELOSI 2020” flags that were conspicuously absent on that fateful day. It’s absurd to even suggest that Nancy Pelosi caused the insurrection. How deep do the delusions run? How blinded are these individuals by their unwavering support for Trump?
It seems that Trump is now playing a game of trolling with his own supporters. He contradicts their claims of not being insurrectionists by stating that Jan 6th was indeed an insurrection. His intentional double speak is baffling. But what’s even more concerning is the victim-blaming or total insanity he displays by claiming that Nancy Pelosi caused the very event he now admits was an insurrection.
With each passing day, Trump’s case becomes weaker and weaker. Not that anyone is complaining. The more he speaks, the more he incriminates himself. It’s as if he is so blinded by his own delusions that he can’t see the damage he’s causing to his own reputation and any remaining credibility he may have had.
One thing is clear: Trump’s logic is flawed. He seems to believe that “insurrection” is a word that Democrats use against him, so he’s going to use it against them. It’s a shallow, petty attempt to level the playing field. And sadly, his followers, like Marjorie Taylor Greene, don’t seem to understand the grave consequences of such rhetoric. To them, it’s just another insult to throw around.
As I reflect on this whole debacle, I can’t help but be reminded of the quote, “Dude has mashed potatoes for brains.” Trump’s level of stupidity is unmatched. He blames Pelosi for an insurrection that he himself orchestrated. He blames her for opposing the government by force, conveniently forgetting that an insurrection is exactly what he incited on that fateful day.
It’s frustrating to see that tens of thousands of people now believe that Nancy Pelosi caused an insurrection. The power of Trump’s manipulation is evident in the way his followers parrot his words without question. It’s a testament to the danger of misinformation and the need for critical thinking in our society.
As a New Zealander watching from the sidelines, I can’t help but wonder what would happen if Trump were to secure the Republican nomination again. Would it split the Republican vote, with some protesting by voting Democrat? The polarization of politics in America is a cause for concern, and the nomination of someone like Trump would only exacerbate the divide.
In the end, I am left shaking my head in disbelief at the level of stupidity displayed by Trump. How anyone can believe his claims is beyond me. It’s disheartening to witness the erosion of our democracy, the blatant corruption, and the troglodyte-level ignorance that seems to prevail. One can only hope that sanity will prevail, and that Trump’s influence will wane over time. Until then, we must remain vigilant and continue to challenge the falsehoods and misinformation that he spreads. Our country deserves better.
