As I read the news that Trump is countering Taylor Swift with Kid Rock, I couldn’t help but let out a laugh. It’s like watching a desperate clown desperately trying to find a circus. Kid Rock, a 52-year-old who still calls himself “Kid,” couldn’t fill a bathtub let alone a stadium. Yet here he is, being pitted against the one and only Taylor Swift, a talented, smart, and beautiful young woman who is easily the most popular pop star in a generation or two.
I can’t help but wonder what Trump was thinking when he decided to bring out Kid Rock as his so-called counter to Taylor Swift. It’s like throwing a spitball at a battleship or bringing a very dull knife to a gunfight. The comparison is simply laughable. Kid Rock may have one or two songs, but Taylor Swift’s discography speaks for itself. I’d rather listen to her Christmas album than all of Kid Rock’s music combined.
But beyond the sheer mismatch in talent, there’s something deeper at play here. It seems that Trump is desperate to have any cultural or creative icons on his side, as artists and musicians are rarely ever conservative. Kid Rock, with his white trash MAGA fans, is perhaps the best he can come up with. This desperate attempt at finding support from the creative world is an insight into why there are so few conservatives in these fields. Their desperation is palpable.
It’s also worth noting that Taylor Swift herself hasn’t even publicly stated which “side” she’s on, just simply encouraging people to register to vote. Yet, by their own idiocy, Trump and his supporters have pitted Swift, and subsequently her entire fanbase, against themselves. They have created a false enemy, hoping to rally support, but instead, they are only alienating themselves further.
This move by Trump is akin to countering Beyonce with Candace Owens. It’s a desperate attempt to fight fire with water, and it shows just how clueless and out of touch Trump and his supporters truly are. They don’t even seem to care that they’re fighting a losing battle and making fools of themselves in the process.
In the end, this laughable attempt by Trump to counter Taylor Swift with Kid Rock only serves to highlight the stark contrast between the two. It’s a battle between a talented, smart, and beautiful young woman and an old, ran-over shoe. My money’s on Taylor Swift any day.
As I reflect on this news, I can’t help but hope that Taylor Swift is laughing her ass off at the sheer stupidity of it all. Maybe she’ll even write a song about it, further cementing her status as the most popular musician today. Trump’s attempt to bring out Kid Rock and other has-been celebrities only serves as a reminder of how out of touch he is with reality and how desperate he is to find support. It’s a joke, and I’m sure Taylor Swift knows it.
