As a Polish citizen, I find it absolutely baffling that the Republican Party in the United States, of all political factions, is the most pro-Russian. Here in Poland, we hold former President Reagan in high regard for his instrumental role in helping us gain independence in the late 1980s. It is disheartening to see Republicans align themselves with a nation that goes against the democratic ideals we hold dear.

The recent comments made by the Polish leader, expressing his disappointment and calling out the Republican senators for scuttling Ukrainian aid, are absolutely valid. The actions of these senators should be met with shame and reproach. It is a clear betrayal of the values and principles that the United States claims to stand for.

What is even more disturbing is that Republicans seem to lack a basic sense of conscience. They cannot be shamed into changing their behavior. They are driven solely by self-interest, whether it be through bribery or blackmail. This blatant disregard for the well-being of others is deeply troubling, and it raises concerns about the future of democracy and cooperation among Western allies.

The world cannot afford to have an isolationist United States, especially at a time when China and Russia are exerting their influence without restraint. It is crucial for the European Union and the United Kingdom to step up and strengthen their military aid and alliances. The West must send a clear message to the fascists in the United States: change your ways, or you will be excluded from the Western alliance. We do not need you if you are unwilling to uphold democratic values and principles.

The lack of shame and empathy displayed by US Republican senators is not surprising, given their track record on immigration issues. It is evident that their actions are often driven by personal gain, rather than doing what is right for the country and its citizens. I can personally attest to this, having witnessed firsthand how wealthy white orange grove owners in Florida fought against a proposal that would require legal employment in the citrus industry. Their motivation was simple – they wanted to exploit cheap, illegal labor to maximize their own profits.

The Republican Party’s alignment with Russia and their failure to take meaningful action on immigration speaks volumes about their priorities. While the American people may feel deep shame and embarrassment over the actions of these politicians, it seems that the senators themselves are incapable of experiencing those emotions. They are more interested in protecting their own wealth and maintaining their power than in upholding democratic values and supporting worthy causes like aiding Ukraine.

It is high time for world leaders to take a stand against the Republican Party’s destructive behavior. Every nation that considers the United States a friend should make a strong and united effort to condemn these actions. This level of international pressure and scrutiny can help break through the facade of the Republican Party, exposing their true motivations and holding them accountable for their shameless actions.

Unfortunately, Republican senators have proven time and again that they are impervious to shame. They have no moral compass, no sense of right and wrong. It is disheartening to witness the decline of a party that once embodied principles and values. The world is watching, and for the sake of democracy and global stability, it is crucial that we continue to denounce their actions and work towards a better future. As an American, I am deeply troubled by the current state of affairs, but I hold onto hope that change is possible, and that the values of democracy and justice will prevail.
