I am shocked and deeply concerned by Governor Abbott’s decision to defy a Supreme Court ruling and continue fortifying the Texas border with razor wire. It is a blatant disregard for the rule of law, and it sets a dangerous precedent for our democracy.
Abbott’s statement on social media, where he proudly proclaims that the Texas National Guard is “holding the line,” is nothing more than a political stunt that is costing billions of dollars to Texas taxpayers. It raises important questions about whether blue cities and states would be allowed to ignore rulings they don’t agree with, or if this privilege is reserved only for Republicans.
