It is truly appalling to witness the GOP allowing someone who is not even in office to dictate their decisions. It is absurd that private citizen Trump holds this much influence over the party, and it is disappointing to see fellow GOP senators consider listening to him. Romney hit the nail on the head when he called out this behavior as ‘appalling.’
The idea that Trump wants to kill the border bill solely to blame Biden is classic Republican one-dimensional chess thinking. They seem to believe that by obstructing progress and causing chaos, they can somehow come out on top. But voters are not that stupid, well, most of them anyway. We can see through these transparent tactics and recognize the harm it does to our country.
It’s no surprise that right-wing politics have devolved into a strategy of hurting the opposition for a perceived ‘win.’ The aftermath and consequences don’t matter to them. All they care about is scoring political points, even at the expense of the American people.
I would love to see Biden address the nation in a prime-time speech, laying out the history and facts regarding the border problem and its proposed legislation. It’s essential for Americans to know who is blocking this bill and why. We need to hold Republicans accountable for their obstructionist tactics and let them know that we won’t stand for it.
The GOP’s view on politics, treating it like a football game, is detrimental to our nation. Let’s not forget that Trump is not in office. He is a Georgia prisoner out on bail, awaiting multiple trials and charges across the United States. He is not a leader, but a threat to our democracy and must be separated from politics immediately.
