How can 42 percent of Americans still support the worst president in our history?

I sure have made use of this quote a lot recently:

His fans don’t care that he didn’t pay taxes. His fans don’t care if he cheated on his taxes. His fans don’t care that he lies about his taxes. His fans care that he hates, and tries to hurt, the same people they hate.

Trump has made the confirmation of 200 federal judges, including two Supreme Court justices, a significant part of his reelection campaign. But Hawley said religious conservatives right now are “very depressed,” particularly after Justice Neil Gorsuch, a Trump pick, wrote the decision providing LGBTQ workers with federal workplace protections.

The shutdown on top of the hurricane has caused Ms. Minton to rethink a lot of things.

“I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this,” she said of Mr. Trump. “I thought he was going to do good things. He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

Trevor is 41 and dying of liver disease. He lives in a low-income housing facility and he doesn’t have health insurance.

“Had Trevor lived a simple thirty-nine minute drive away in neighboring Kentucky, he might have topped the list of candidates for expensive medications called polymerase inhibitors, a life-saving liver transplant, or other forms of treatment and support,” Metzl writes. But Tennessee officials repeatedly blocked efforts to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

But Trevor is not mad at the state’s elected officials. “Ain’t no way I would ever support Obamacare or sign up for it,” he tells Metzl. “I would rather die.” When Metzl prods him about why he’d choose death over affordable health care, Trevor’s answer is telling. “We don’t need any more government in our lives. And in any case, no way I want my tax dollars paying for Mexicans or welfare queens.”

Research Finds That Racism, Sexism, and Status Fears Drove Trump Voters

It’s becoming increasingly apparent that we need to stop tolerating them as much as we do. After the debate when the Trump campaign became officially a white supremacist movement, anyone, ANYONE still on board with it has aligned themselves with fascists and white supremacist. It’s not a matter of political differences now, these are hateful people that want to invalidate your vote and mine and everyone’s, while actively seeking to rip away every right and protection minorities have. There are children in cages still. Those are not political opinions. Those are human rights violations, and they will use their vote to ensure they happen and happen faster. They seek to undermine the rights and freedoms of the very people that they interact with every single day, and you know what? It’s time they started to pay a price for that.

“But you’re not supposed to treat people any different because of how they vote!”

Sure, when the most controversial thing on the ballot is how to balance the budget or who gets tax breaks, then yeah, be respectful. This is different. Your vote is your power and you are responsible for how you use your power, so if you are using it to deliberately hurt people and take that same power away from them, you lose your right to be respected for how you vote. If I voted to have you shot because I don’t like you, are you going to give me respect after that? Anyone that votes for a candidate that openly engages in this voter suppression and an attempted coup is voting to silence you and you should not tolerate that ever.

Call them out wherever they are. How about from now on they’re not allowed to peacefully enjoy the society that we have built and maintained for them and for everyone while they actively seek to rip it down. My relatives that support him, I will never sit quietly in a room with them again, any more than I would if a fucking Nazi walked in. Did the Trump supporter show up to the party? Throw them the fuck out. They don’t get to go on pretending like everything is normal, because it isn’t, and I refuse to give them even a modicum of the respect they won’t give to anyone.
