while in the same breath, be confirming this Handmaid’s Tale bitch under the silent acknowledgement that she is solely there to merge Government & Religion while resetting the bodily rights of women back 50 years.
This is what you get with nonsecular government. Religious fanatics and Fascists gaslighting the world and making us all feel bad that we would even think to test the most fundamental beliefs that will go on to effect every decision made by this LIFELONG appointment to SCOTUS.
Anyone who doesn’t see through this by now is exactly the type of sheep these false Shepherds love to take for all they’ve got. And the wool remains firmly planted over your eyes.
Her religious beliefs aren’t really the problem. They’re problematic, but they’re not the problem. The problem with Barrett is that she’s demonstrated an inability to separate her religious beliefs from the unbiased administration of justice. She has explicitly talked about her religious beliefs governing her judicial perspective, and approach to jurisprudence. We cannot have the highest court in the land rendering judgements based on the Christian religion, or the Christian beliefs of the justices.
You can’t say her religious beliefs are the problem with her becoming a judge unless you’re also willing to say that all potential judges with religious beliefs are excluded from considerations. The United States Constitution specifically protects the right to religious freedom, meaning that the government cannot discriminate on the basis of belief. Most people are able to separate their religious beliefs from their professional duties. In this context, most judges are able to set aside their personal beliefs when tasked with administering justice. However, Amy Coney Barrett is not one of those people. Her extreme fundamentalist beliefs are intertwined with her understanding of the law, and it’s not reasonable to believe that she’d desire, or be capable of checking her faith at the door when stepping up to the bench. It is that inability to separate her faith from her duty that we should all be concerned about.
