McConnell breaks with RNC: Jan. 6 ‘violent insurrection’

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/593339-mcconnell-breaks-with-rnc-jan-6-violent-insurrection

Sure. He said this immediately after the impeachment, and even said Trump was responsible… except he declined to hold Trump responsible.

You misunderstand McConnell’s grand plan. He’s using the courts he tricked Trump into assembling to fuck him at every turn (election results, his tax returns, now J6) while supporting traditional conservative principles (minor wins for religious rights, campaign finance, likely wins for guns and abortion in Corlett and Dobbs coming out this summer). And while the courts destroy him piece by piece, the J6 committee led by two McConnell Republicans exposes the real dirt behind him and leaves him with his pants down for the Federalist Society graduate DOJ to come and collect.… Continue reading

Wisconsin high court declines to hear Trump election lawsuit

A split Wisconsin Supreme Court on Thursday refused to hear President Donald Trump’s lawsuit attempting to overturn his loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the battleground state, sidestepping a decision on the merits of the claims and instead ruling that the case must first wind its way through lower courts.

Why did the Trump administration do nothing to protect our election from this massive, widespread voter fraud that they are claiming? If what they are saying is true, wouldn’t that mean that Trump is dangerously incompetent and unqualified because he did nothing to address the threat? Voter fraud on the scale they are alleging would be one of the greatest attacks ever perpetrated on the United States, yet it happened under Trump’s watch.… Continue reading

I love and appreciate Lorne Michaels, but his smug-ass aura makes me want to kick him in the shins.

The dude needed to start the process of gradually stepping back 10 years ago.

He’s not only holding the show back creatively and driving it into the ground by pandering to audiences that can’t carry the show anymore, but he’s also been excused of fostering an inexcusably toxic work environment. The dude dragged his feet for decades before begrudgingly embracing female comics, dragged his feet before begrudgingly accepting black comments, dragged his feet before begrudgingly accepting the demand from his favorite staff member that he hire more black women, demanded that they be nice to presidsnt Trump, pandered to racists by hiring a known racist comic (people in the scene as him said there’s literally no way anyone who did the bare minimum of research didn’t figure out what he was about), and has actively pushed the show to mediocrity when there’s talent

People like Tim Robinson and Zach Galifianakis make sense, because their writing is a bit too absurd and niche for the show.… Continue reading

The central lie of capitalism is that you’re being paid fairly for your work

Yes but that’s also literally what makes it capitalism. Your job exploits your capability to make them money at a greater rate than they have to pay you. You aren’t all fairly compensated for your work because some of the proceeds of that work are instead funneled off to compensate those who did nothing more than provide capital for the company to utilise, in the form of stocks.

That’s what makes this form of work naturally exploitative. Contrast this with, say, a work situation where you barter your work on X project, for their work on y project for you; you cut my hair, I give you some carrots I grew.… Continue reading

Here we go again. Pick one!

So much of conservative culture is “cool guy badass aesthetic” and “cops are awesome all of a sudden because BLM are brown terrorists”

There is no logic. There is no thought process. It’s gut reactions and slapping loud messages on muh truck.

Anti-government but pro-militias-that-enforce-the-government-they’re-against

Anti big government except when it comes to a huge ass military, huge police forces, controlling a person woman’s body, government hand outs to the rich, government interfering with an election if it helps them win, strictly patrolled boarders, and Im sure there are more

They’re not really anti big government. I have sat down, in person, with a few conservatives in my family to talk about the fact that every conservative administration has resulted in increased spending and an expansion of federal powers.… Continue reading

People are being worried about the vaccine being done in 9 months when we should be thinking about what else could be done that quickly if scientists didn’t have to spend so much time begging for funding and support

This just teaches us that there is no triumph of mankind that is SO GREAT that people will not let their political delusions doom us anyway. If we hadn’t found ourselves in this shitty clown show where scientists are bad and facts don’t matter based on political leanings, this vaccine could have been touted as a massive victory for capitalism and human ingenuity.

Instead we can look forward to this:

-Car invented that runs on water! Climate change is solved! Mankind is saved!

-Oil companies and lobbyists “Idk guys this car battery seems a little rushed, might be unsafe. We should all continue to use fossil fuels instead.”… Continue reading

Right-Wing Embrace Of Conspiracy Is ‘Mass Radicalization,’ Experts Warn.

For some reason, this article evokes images of the OKC bombing in my mind. That was another period of right wing radicalism. The current situation feels worse, though.

Because at least when that domestic terror attack happened, our politicians and media rallied together to denounce it.

You didn’t have people creating multimillion dollar funds for Timothy Mcveigh’s defense, political leaders saying that maybe we need to listen to the Mcveighs of the world, and anybody attempting to justify him was immediately shunned.

We don’t have that now. If another domestic terror attack like that happened, it would split the country.… Continue reading

President Donald Trump Signs COVID Relief Bill

President Trump signed a bill to extend unemployment benefits and avert a government shutdown, the White House said in an emailed statement Sunday evening. While Trump signed the current bill providing for $600 checks for most Americans hours before a midnight government shutdown deadline, he will continue his push to bring that amount to $2,000, according to two sources familiar with the planning.

Trump’s delay in signing the $900 billion coronavirus relief bill and $1.4 trillion government funding measure caused unemployment benefits for millions of Americans to lapse overnight. A bipartisan group of lawmakers, angered over the delay, urged Trump earlier on Sunday to sign the measure, saying “too many people” depended on it.… Continue reading

The audio of Trump with the Georgia secretary of state. Wow. It’s like telling the Nixon tapes to “hold my beer.”

I’ve wondered the same thing, and have concluded there are 2 groups.

The first are rural imbeciles who literally are THAT dumb that they can’t see a walking cartoon conman. These are the same people who give TV preachers their money and so on.

The second, and larger group, are people who know full well that he’s a liar and a crook and a cheat and everything else, but they don’t care because he’s on THEIR side, and they WANT him to do whatever it takes to “win” their white culture war and make liberals cry.

I’d argue there’s a third group.… Continue reading

Virginia went big for Biden, but on eve of another pivotal election, many voters say Democrats have not delivered for them

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/virginia-biden-mcauliffe-youngkin/2021/10/31/aa8c6d62-384b-11ec-8be3-e14aaacfa8ac_story.html

We’ve had a very good couple of years of getting things done in VA. The reason this election is so close is because the GOP culture war and fear mongering works on a lot more people than it should.

Apparently this is politics in America in 2021. If Party A hasn’t fixed every problem in the country/world since the last election vote for Party B. When Party B fails to fix everything vote for Party A again.

Then sit back and wonder why things continue to go to shit when we’re rapidly switching gears between very different policy agendas and strategies and there’s little continuity in government.… Continue reading
